Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A senior representative stated the vandalism made him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
